The “Faith” (and I use that term in the loosest of senses) section of our local rag of a newspaper had a small story that caught my attention. It was just above a story about a couple that paints pictures of your pet with Jesus. That in and of itself speaks volumes.
I digress…the story was about a “Pagan Pride Festival” being held at the state fairgrounds. The stated goal of the gathering is “to unite everybody, not just pagans. Everybody. To get them under the same banner of love, truth, communication and honor and hopefully to change humanity.” According to one of the “high priestesses”, paganism is a very open path with a diversity of beliefs and very little strict dogma. “We embrace all paths, all religions. We don’t say ours is any better than any other. We don’t raise any god above any other.”
I almost don’t know where to begin.
Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but through me.” John 14:6
1 John 4:8 “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” Folks, John is not talking about a vague, unknown god. He’s talking about Yahweh, the Great I Am. He’s talking about Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:13
Jesus did that for ALL of us. That is love, not some watering down of all the world’s religions into some generic, feel-good-ism.
The belief in a faith that embraces all religions is absurd. There is Truth, and then there is everything else. There is only One God, revealed in the persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. There is only one Truth, the Word of God. There are many books that claim to be divinely inspired, but only one is accurately predictive (meaning that it contains prophecies of events thousands of years before their taking place), and that book is the Bible.
When I see the lengths to which humanity will go to embrace “all faiths”, and yet deny the one True faith, I know we are reaching the end of days. Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:3-4:
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”
If that doesn’t describe what’s going on today, I don’t know what does. And it’s not just paganism. There are “Christian” churches that no longer believe in the Truth of the Bible. There are mega-church pastors preaching to thousands each week a “gospel” of health and wealth. Millions of people have traded the truth for a lie (Romans 1:25).
The sad part is that many would say I’m being exclusivist. They would say that what I’m calling Truth is “unfair.” Why? God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die on our behalf (all our behalves), to pay the penalty for our sins (all our sins), and all He asks is that we “confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead” and we’ll be saved. That’s unfair? Well, yeah it is. It’s unfair to God. He paid the price for us, and all we have to do is believe? I’d say we got the good end of that deal.
The time is growing short, folks. Look around. Repent and believe the Gospel.
Grace and Peace,
TN
