The Wading Pool

 I myself  have much to be thankful for  (see my last post).  Just this week, I found out my mom won’t have to endure chemotherapy to combat her cancer.  I’m very thankful for that.  VERY thankful.  

I have a beautiful wife, and a beautiful baby girl.

I have a wonderful family.

I have a pretty freaking awesome heritage in that family:  both my grandfathers were preachers.  I’m not foolish enough to discount their impact on my life, even if I can’t remember ever hearing them preach.  They taught their kids, and my parents then taught me and my siblings.  Now I’m trying to carry on this awesome heritage with my little girl.  

Plus, given the fact that some of my distant cousins were bank robbers…I’ll lay claim to any respectable heritage I have!

When I think of how very blessed I am, in so many ways, I’m greatly humbled.  Who am I, that I would rate all this?  Why has God given me these things?  I’m not sure, but I do know that to him that much is given, much is required.  I want to honor the Lord in what He has given me.

And on that note, I am most thankful for Jesus.  Without Him, I am nothing.  Without Him, I’m not typing these words right now.  He holds everything together (Col. 3:17), and that includes me.  He gives me life.  He gives me mercy anew each morning, freely and abundantly.  He died to save us from eternal separation from God, and rose again to give us life to the fullest.  If I had nothing else, I’d still have Him.  Every good thing I enjoy comes from Him, and only by knowing and loving Him can I truly enjoy what He’s given me.  

Yes, I am thankful today.  And everyday.
