The Silence of God

“And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him.”  Luke 23:33
Today, we killed God.  Today, we nailed the spotless, sinless Lamb of God to a tree.  Today, the unjust murdered the Just.  All of us.  You and me.  Our sin held Jesus on that tree.  We put Him there.  From Adam to Matt, we’re all responsible.
And He went through with it all because of love for us.  To pay a debt we could not pay.
Tonight, His friends who deserted Him were in hiding; their hopes and dreams crushed.  Tonight, as He lay in a new tomb, the world experienced the silence of God in a way I cannot imagine.
Tonight, Satan seemed victorious.
Tonight.
