Dancing With The Stars.
Yes, you read that right. The TV show.
Well, that and American Idol, as well. And Oprah’s new “church.” It’s all tied together.
How, you say?
Cheryl Crow sang a new song tonight on Dancing With the Stars, and I liked it until I paid attention to the words. The song seems to focus on the problems in the world today and what the solution to those problems are. Evidently, Cheryl believes that “If we could only get out of our heads and into our hearts” we could solve all the world’s problems.
There was some cat on American Idol that crooned a song tonight with a similar theme.
Oprah is espousing a “new” religion that denies any claim to Truth in Scripture and lifts up our own selves as gods. Check out You Tube if you don’t believe me.
My point is this: from politics to pop culture, there is a push for this kind of ideology. There is this idea that if we all just look within our selves, “into our hearts”, we can change the world. The problem with that?
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9.
I know my heart. I know this verse is true of me. And I know it’s true of most people I know. Outside of Christ, we are ALL depraved, fallen, corrupt, hopelessly lost. And even after we come to know Christ (this was the intended subject of my post tonight, knowing God), we are still being progressively sanctified. NONE of us are perfect. Until we are glorified with Him, and are made like Jesus, we still carry around the results of the Fall in our bodies. (1 John 3:2)
Looking in our hearts is not the answer. Jesus is.
Oh, and I was watching those shows because my wife had the remote.
