Why Praise?

Why do we sing at church?  Why do we “praise God?”  Is it because He needs the ego boost?  No.  Is it because it’s cool or makes us feel good or gives us “holy-ghost bumps?”  No.

Here’s why:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy Name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction (hell),
Who crowns you with lovingkindness (mercy),
Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
(Psalm 103 vs. 1-5)
That’s why.  Because it is the smallest of honors we can pay to the One Who redeemed us from the pit of destruction.  At an unbelievably high cost.
That’s why we praise Him.
That’s why we sing.
That’s why.
