Baby Newt over there sums up my current state of mind to a tee.
From the lack of activity here this week, you might gather that things have been a tad hectic around the Perch.
Uhhhhh…yeah.
Thanksgiving “break” for me consisted of insane hours spent on the “project that has no end” (i.e., our house). Friday’s work ran until 3 a.m. Saturday. That was sandwiched around “normal” hours on Thursday and Saturday.
Sunday saw all four of the Newts sick with some type of head cold. I’ll tell you, three week old girls with headcolds are a pitiful sight. And of course, I was the worst of us all. I’m a man, after all.
Monday saw my return to work, which was wild. Amazing how quick a break goes by. Back in the saddle during the day, and over at the “project” at night.
Tuesday saw the Newt turn 34. I was blown away by the love my kids and friends from school showed me. That’s a story for another day. Back to the whining. And yes, after showing my daughter the crescent moon, Jupiter, and Venus in close viewing range, I headed to the “project.”
Wed…more of the same.
Thurs…ditto.
Friday: I lost my voice, which makes for a fun day teaching 75 sixth graders! Then I came home and…
after having dinner with the Nanny and Poppy Newt who spent the day with the baby Newts…
I spent the next 3 hours on the couch holding my newborn.
And I forgot all about the rest of it.
Long and short: the plan is to move next week. Praise the LORD! After 10 months of “one step forward, two steps back”, the “project” is nearly complete.
I see a lot of nap time with baby newts in my future.
